"Just Can't Get Enough" by Depeche Mode

The kitchen was, in my opinion, the toughest job at camp.  The long hours on your feet, the heat, the cramped quarters with the same people, the cleaning, the dishwashing, and (probably the worst part) the isolation from the rest of the camp. I spent my first half week there, after which it was decided that I was better at other things, which is fortunate, because otherwise I probably wouldn't have stuck around for as long as I did.

In other words, I kinda hated working in the kitchen.

I clearly wasn't cut out for the dining hall job, but in the next four summers I spent at camp, I found myself going back sometimes. It wasn't so bad as an outsider popping in every once in a while to help out. Or at least to pretend I was helping out. I always had friends, and sometimes girlfriends, working there.

There was often music playing in the kitchen between meals. I guess it made the hard work more bearable. And after one big Saturday night staff dinner, when the dirty dishes were stacked high and the pots awaited scrubbing, the song chosen was this one by Depeche Mode. The guys all took off their shirts, started dancing around, and got down to business singing "I just can't get it up."
